Where the call gets lost.

The moments a photographers business misses the phone, and what each one costs.

Golden hour is when couples call

The phone rings when the light is best, because that is when you are unreachable and when engaged couples are off work and planning. A wedding inquiry is the highest-value call a photographer gets, and couples typically contact several photographers the same evening. The one who answers, or books a consultation within the hour, is usually the one who gets the date.

Fall mini-sessions and the spring senior rush

Photography is seasonal in a way callers do not respect. Fall family minis, spring senior portraits, newborn sessions that must land inside a two-week window, and headshot days for a whole office all book in bursts. During a burst you are shooting and editing until midnight. The calls stack up in voicemail, and the newborn parents who needed a date this week found someone else.

Every inquiry is a small interview

Booking a shoot is never one question. Callers want to know whether you travel, what a session includes, how long until galleries are delivered, whether you shoot in the rain, and roughly what it costs. Answering that properly takes ten minutes you do not have between a session and a two-hour drive. Left in voicemail, it becomes a callback game that ends with a booked competitor.

What Ansurra does on the call.

The receptionist, in photographers terms.

Consultations booked, weddings qualified

For a wedding or event, Ansurra asks what a photographer needs before anything else: the date, the venue or city, the hours of coverage wanted, and how the couple heard about you. It checks your calendar for the wedding date so a couple is not sent to a consultation for a Saturday you already shoot, then books the consultation call at a genuinely open time and emails the confirmation.

Portrait sessions straight onto the calendar

Family, senior, newborn, maternity and headshot sessions are simpler, and Ansurra books them directly: it offers only the open session times on your calendar, collects the names, the number of people and the location if you shoot on site, and confirms by email with a reminder about a day before. Open a block of short slots for a mini-session day and callers fill them one after another.

Pricing that says exactly what you wrote

Photographers price in packages, and a misquote costs a booking or a margin. Ansurra quotes only from the price list you control: 'Portrait sessions start at three hundred fifty dollars; wedding collections begin at twenty-eight hundred and are quoted after a consultation.' It never invents a number, never discounts, and never promises a print credit you did not list. When a caller pushes, it books the consultation instead.

Reschedules for weather, and the client who calls back

Outdoor shoots move with the forecast. When a client calls to push Saturday's session because of rain, Ansurra finds the booking, offers the open alternatives and moves it on the calendar during the call. A past client is recognized by caller ID and greeted by name with her previous session in view. Every call is transcribed, summarized and scored, so a hot wedding lead sits at the top of your dashboard the next morning.

A call, start to finish.

CallerHi, we're getting married next October and we're looking for a photographer. Are you taking weddings?
AnsurraCongratulations. Yes, we are. Can you tell me the date and the venue, or the city if the venue isn't set yet?
CallerOctober seventeenth, at a barn venue out near Hollister. Probably eight hours of coverage.
AnsurraThank you. That date is still open on our calendar. The next step is a thirty-minute consultation call with the photographer to walk through your day and the collections. I have Tuesday at six thirty in the evening or Thursday at noon. Would either work?
CallerTuesday evening. Can you give me a rough idea of pricing first?
AnsurraFrom our price list, wedding collections begin at twenty-eight hundred dollars for eight hours, and the exact collection is put together at the consultation. Can I get both of your names and an email for the confirmation?
CallerSure, Jenna Marsh and Luis Ortega. Email is jenna at marsh ortega dot com.
AnsurraThank you, Jenna. You're booked for a consultation Tuesday at six thirty, and I've noted October seventeenth near Hollister with eight hours of coverage. The confirmation is on its way. Congratulations again.

Ansurra vs. what you use today.

Voicemail, an answering service, a person at the desk: what each still does better, and what it costs.

Voicemail, and the couple who booked someone else

A voicemail greeting that says you are on a shoot and will call back tonight sounds reasonable and loses the inquiry anyway. Couples and parents call a list. Ansurra answers, qualifies the date, quotes from your list and books the consultation, so by the time you are back at the car the lead is on your calendar.

A traditional answering service takes a name and a number

A live operator service gives callers a real person, which some prefer. It cannot see your calendar, does not know your packages, and cannot tell a bride whether October seventeenth is open, so it writes down a callback. Where a human operator still does better: a client upset about a delayed gallery or a dispute over an invoice. Ansurra transfers those to you live instead of guessing.

A studio manager versus a solo photographer's year

A studio with several shooters and a retail front can justify a manager who owns the phone. A solo photographer or a two-person team cannot, and hiring one turns a good year into a break-even one. Ansurra covers the phone for a fixed monthly price, every day including shoot days, editing weeks and the Sunday evenings when couples plan.

How it works.

01

Paste your website

Ansurra reads your services, hours and service area and drafts its own knowledge. Add your price list if you want it quoting.

02

Forward your number

One dial code at your carrier — every call, or only the ones you miss. You keep the number your customers know.

03

It answers

From the next ring: it books on your calendar, emails confirmations, transfers emergencies to your cell and sends you every detail.

Photographers, answered.

Can it check whether a wedding date is already booked before we talk?

Yes. Ansurra checks your connected calendar for the requested date. If you have already blocked it for another wedding, it tells the couple honestly and offers to take their details in case the date frees up, or to look at other dates. When the date is open, it books the consultation. It does not hold the date; only you do that, after the consultation.

Will it quote our wedding packages?

Only as you wrote them. Most photographers list a starting price and note that collections are built at the consultation; Ansurra says exactly that and does not invent totals for extra hours, second shooters or albums. If your price list says 'inquire for pricing', it books the consultation and says nothing about numbers, no matter how the caller asks.

How does it handle mini-session days and newborn timing?

For mini-session days, open a block of short slots on your calendar and Ansurra fills them in order, one family per slot, with a reminder the day before. For newborns, it collects the due date or birth date and books inside the window you tell it, or books a callback if the baby has not arrived. It follows your rules and does not improvise a session length.

Does it take rescheduling calls when the weather turns?

Yes. When a client calls to move Saturday's outdoor session, Ansurra finds the booking, offers the open alternatives on the calendar and reschedules it during the call. The new confirmation goes out by email. If you have set a policy on weather moves, such as a free reschedule within the season, it repeats that policy word for word rather than making one up.

What does a solo photographer pay?

Starter is $29 a month for 60 talk minutes, which covers a good number of inquiry calls. Growth is $49 for 180 minutes, Pro $99 for 400 with up to four numbers, and Scale $299 for 1,000 minutes and up to seven numbers. Overage is $0.35 a minute, $0.25 on Scale. Yearly plans include a month free. The trial is 20 minutes on the real product, no card, and the first payment has a 14-day money-back guarantee.

I use my cell as my business line. Can I still forward it?

Yes. Forwarding is a dial code on your carrier, and you choose whether every call goes to Ansurra or only the ones you do not pick up. On a shoot day, forward everything; on an editing day, forward only what you miss. Your number never changes, and setup takes about two minutes from your website portfolio, or from a photography template if you do not have one.
