Text messaging & consent

How businesses using Ansurra send text messages, how their customers consent, and how to stop them. Published for carriers, reviewers and anyone who receives a text from a business that uses Ansurra.

1. Who sends the texts

Ansurra is a software platform: an AI receptionist that answers a local business's phone calls and website chats. When a business turns on texting, that business — a plumber, a dentist, a law firm — sends texts to its own customers from a dedicated toll-free number registered in the business's name. Ansurra operates the software; it does not text anyone on its own behalf, and it never sells, rents or shares phone numbers.

2. What the texts are

  • Appointment confirmations — after a customer books on a call or in website chat
  • Appointment reminders — the day before a booked appointment
  • Waitlist openings — when a customer asked to be told if a slot frees up

Every message is a reply to something the customer started. No marketing, no promotions, no bulk texting. Typical volume is a few messages per customer per appointment.

3. How consent is collected

By phone (verbal). The customer initiates contact by calling the business's published number. During the call the receptionist asks, in plain words, “Is it alright if I text you the details?” — and texts only if the customer says yes, and only to the number they called from.
On the website (digital). Before a visitor shares a phone number in the business's chat widget, a notice is shown: “If you share your phone number, [business] may text you about your enquiry. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out.”

A customer who has not contacted the business is never texted.

4. Sample messages

Every message names the business and carries opt-out instructions. For a fictional “Hendricks Plumbing”:

  • Hendricks Plumbing: You're booked for Mon, Sep 14 at 10:00 AM. Need to change it? Call us at (555) 010-2030. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Hendricks Plumbing: Reminder — your appointment is tomorrow, Tue, Sep 15 at 10:00 AM. Reply STOP to opt out.
  • Hendricks Plumbing: Sorry we missed your call. Reply here or call us back at (555) 010-2030 and we'll help right away. Reply STOP to opt out.

5. Opting out and getting help

  • Reply STOP (or UNSUBSCRIBE, END, QUIT, CANCEL) to any message. A single confirmation is sent — “You have been unsubscribed from [business] and will receive no further messages. Reply START to resubscribe.” — and nothing else is sent afterwards.
  • Reply HELP for the business's contact details and how to reach Ansurra.
  • Reply START to opt back in.

Opt-outs are stored per business and enforced automatically by the platform before any message is sent.
