Every unanswered call is a caller who dialed the next result on Google. The loss is invisible because it never appears on a statement; this page makes it visible. Type in what you know, adjust anything that looks wrong for your trade, and read the monthly figure.

The starting numbers are assumptions, not statistics: change every one of them to match your business. The sourced industry figures are further down the page.

Missed calls a month–
Revenue not booked, per month–about – a year
If a receptionist took those calls–roughly – talk minutes a month, at three minutes a call
Difference each month–recovered revenue minus the plan price

Where the starting numbers come from

The defaults above are deliberately conservative guesses so the tool is useful before you change a thing. The published research is harsher than the defaults:

Longer write-up, with the reasoning behind each figure: What a missed call actually costs a local business.

What the calculator leaves out

It counts only the first job. It ignores repeat business from a customer you never met, the review they never left, and the referral they never made. It also ignores the calls that were answered late and lost anyway. If anything, the number on this page is low.

How to shrink the number

Three honest options, in order of cost. Answer more calls yourself, which works until you are under a sink. Hire someone, which works at a few thousand dollars a month and eight hours a day. Forward the calls you miss to a receptionist that answers around the clock, which is what Ansurra does from $29 a month: it books on your calendar, quotes only from your price list, and sends you every detail. The forwarding guide shows the dial code for your carrier; forwarding only unanswered calls means your phone still rings first.

Calculator questions.

Is the calculator accurate?

It is exact arithmetic on the numbers you enter, and only as good as those numbers. Use a week you actually remember, and your real average job value, and it will be close enough to decide with.

Why three minutes a call?

A call that books an appointment typically runs two to four minutes with an AI receptionist; three is the middle. Shorter calls need fewer plan minutes, longer ones more.

Does Ansurra store what I type?

No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.

Can I use these figures in my own article or post?

Yes. Link to this page or to the sourced figures above; please do not present the default assumptions as research.

Stop the number from growing.

Forward the calls you miss to Ansurra: answered 24/7, booked on your calendar, emailed to you. Two free test calls, then plans from $29 a month.
