Where the call gets lost.

The moments a pet grooming business misses the phone, and what each one costs.

You cannot hear it over the dryer

A force dryer runs loud enough that the phone might as well be off. Add a doodle who hates the table and two hands on shears near an eye, and answering is not an option. The caller wanted a full groom before the holidays. Holiday weeks book out early in grooming, and she took the slot at the salon that picked up.

Spring shed-out season buries the phone

When the weather turns, every double-coated dog in town blows coat at once, and every owner calls the same two weeks. A solo groomer or a two-table shop cannot take those calls and finish the huskies already booked. The overflow does not wait. It books somewhere else, and some of it never comes back, because a grooming client who finds a new salon tends to stay.

The no-show you could have refilled

A full groom on a standard poodle is a two- or three-hour block. When the owner calls to cancel and gets voicemail, the block stays on your book until the dog fails to arrive. That is an afternoon gone. Had someone answered, the cancellation would have opened the slot in time to offer it to the owner who called Tuesday asking for anything sooner.

What Ansurra does on the call.

The receptionist, in pet grooming terms.

Breed, size and coat before the booking

A groomer needs more than a name and a time. Ansurra asks the questions you define: breed or mix, approximate weight, coat condition, whether the dog has been groomed before, vaccination status if you require it, and any behavior notes. Those details land on the booking and in your dashboard, so you know a matted doodle is coming before it walks through the door.

Full groom, bath and brush, nails, on the real calendar

Ansurra learns your services from your website or the grooming template: full groom, bath and brush-out, de-shed, nail trim, teeth-brushing add-ons. It offers only times that are genuinely open on your calendar and books the appointment live while the owner is on the phone. The owner gets an email confirmation immediately and a reminder about a day before, which is what keeps the two o'clock from becoming a no-show.

Prices by size, from your list only

Grooming prices depend on size, coat and condition, and most salons quote a starting price with matting or de-shedding extra. Ansurra quotes exactly what your price list says and nothing more. If the list reads 'full groom from sixty-five dollars, final price after we see the coat', that is the sentence the caller hears. It never guesses a price for a hundred-pound Newfoundland.

Every six weeks, the same dog, the same slot

Regular grooming is a cycle, and Ansurra can book a repeat series in one call so the next several visits are on the calendar. When the owner rings back, caller ID brings up her name and her last appointment, and Ansurra greets her accordingly. If the book is full, it offers a waitlist spot and tells her when a cancellation opens the time she wanted.

A call, start to finish.

CallerHi, I need to get my golden retriever in for a full groom. He's shedding like crazy and his feathers are getting matted.
AnsurraWe can help with that. Can you tell me his name, roughly how much he weighs, and whether he's been groomed with us before?
CallerCooper, about seventy-five pounds. First time with you. We just moved here.
AnsurraWelcome to the neighborhood. For a full groom with de-shedding on a large dog, I have Thursday at nine or Saturday at one thirty open on the calendar. Which works better?
CallerThursday at nine. What does that usually run?
AnsurraFrom our price list, a full groom on a large breed starts at ninety-five dollars, with de-shedding added depending on the coat, and the groomer confirms the final price when she sees Cooper. Could I get your name and an email for the confirmation?
CallerSure, it's Priya Raman. Email is priya at raman home dot net.
AnsurraThank you, Priya. Cooper is booked Thursday at nine for a full groom with de-shedding. Your confirmation is on its way, and we'll send a reminder the day before. Please bring his vaccination record for the first visit.

Ansurra vs. what you use today.

Voicemail, an answering service, a person at the desk: what each still does better, and what it costs.

Voicemail loses the seasonal rush

A grooming salon lives on booking the spring shed-out and the pre-holiday weeks. Voicemail during those weeks is a queue of people who will not wait for a callback. Ansurra answers each one, collects the dog's details, and books the slot while it is still open.

A human answering service cannot see your table time

Live operator services are courteous, and some owners prefer a person. The operator still works from a script and a message pad, without knowing that a standard poodle takes three hours or that Thursday morning is already a Bernese, so nothing gets booked. Prices from your list need you on the line to supply them. Where a human still wins: an owner upset about a nicked ear. Ansurra transfers those to you live.

A front-desk hire versus a groomer's margins

A dedicated receptionist works for a multi-table salon with daycare and retail. For a one- or two-groomer shop, that wage comes out of your own table time. Ansurra covers the phone around the clock for less than one groom a month and does not need a day off during shed season.

How it works.

01

Paste your website

Ansurra reads your services, hours and service area and drafts its own knowledge. Add your price list if you want it quoting.

02

Forward your number

One dial code at your carrier — every call, or only the ones you miss. You keep the number your customers know.

03

It answers

From the next ring: it books on your calendar, emails confirmations, transfers emergencies to your cell and sends you every detail.

Pet Grooming, answered.

Can it ask about vaccinations and behavior before booking?

Yes. You define the details Ansurra collects on every booking call: rabies and other vaccination status, breed or mix, weight, coat condition, whether the dog has bitten or been muzzled, and anything else your intake form asks. The answers appear on the booking and in the call summary, so you are never surprised at the door.

What if a dog is badly matted and we'd need to shave down?

Ansurra does not judge coats over the phone. It records what the owner describes, quotes only the starting price on your list, and repeats your own line about matting, such as 'a shave-down may be needed and the groomer will discuss it at drop-off'. The judgment call stays with the groomer, who sees the note before the dog arrives.

Will it book cats and small animals if we take them?

If your website or price list includes cat grooming, rabbits or anything else, Ansurra knows it and books it at the times you keep open. If you do not take cats, it says so plainly and does not promise otherwise. Any detail it gets wrong can be corrected in the dashboard and takes effect on the next call.

How does it handle an owner running late for drop-off, or asking about pickup time?

It takes the message and emails it to you immediately, and if you set your cell as the urgent-transfer number, it can put the owner through live or brief you first in one sentence. It does not guess when a groom will be finished, because that depends on the coat and the dog. The owner gets a real answer from you, not an invented one.

How much does it cost for a solo groomer?

Starter, at $29 a month for 60 talk minutes, fits a one-table shop. Growth is $49 for 180 minutes, Pro $99 for 400 with up to four numbers, and Scale $299 for 1,000 minutes and up to seven numbers. Overage is $0.35 a minute, $0.25 on Scale. Yearly plans get a month free, the trial is 20 minutes with no card required, and the first payment carries a 14-day money-back guarantee.

Do we forward only when we can't pick up, or all the time?

Either. Your carrier forwards with a single dial code, and you choose: every call goes to Ansurra, or only the ones that ring out while the dryer is running. Busy and no-answer forwarding is the gentler start, and switching to every call is the same dial code later. Your number never changes, and setup from your website takes about two minutes.
