Where the call gets lost.

The moments a locksmiths business misses the phone, and what each one costs.

The lockout that rings while you are drilling a cylinder

Lockouts arrive in clusters: the school run, the end of the bar shift, the first cold snap when car doors freeze. You are on your knees at a door with a scope in the plug when the phone goes. By the time you wipe your hands, the caller has found someone else. A lockout is a same-hour job at a same-hour price, and it does not wait.

Voicemail sounds like a scam to a stranded caller

Someone locked out of their house at night is already nervous about who they are calling. Locksmith scams are the one thing everyone has heard about. An answering machine gives them nothing to trust, so they hang up and take the next listing. A real conversation that names your shop, asks the right questions and gives a straight price from your list is what keeps them on the line.

The scheduled work that pays the bills gets no callback

Rekeys after a tenant moves out, deadbolt installs for a new homeowner, a master key system for a property manager, safe openings, commercial lever sets. These callers are happy to book for Thursday, but only if someone picks up today. When the phone goes unanswered during a long automotive job, the steady daytime work drifts to the shop that answered.

What Ansurra does on the call.

The receptionist, in locksmiths terms.

Lockouts go straight to your cell

Mark lockouts as urgent and Ansurra transfers the caller to you live. Choose a warm handoff and it briefs you first in one line, something like a residential lockout on Maple Street with the caller waiting outside, before connecting the call. If you cannot pick up, it takes the address, the lock type and a callback number, and emails you the whole message.

Rekeys and installs land on your calendar

For the work that can wait, Ansurra reads your real calendar during the call and offers only slots that are genuinely open. A landlord who needs six units rekeyed between tenants gets a morning block, not a vague promise of a callback. The customer receives an email confirmation on the spot and a reminder the day before, so fewer doors are locked when you arrive.

Prices come from your list, never from thin air

You decide what Ansurra may quote. Put a service call fee and a lockout range on the price list and it repeats them word for word. Leave safe openings and high-security cylinders off the list and it says an exact quote comes after you see the lock. It will not invent a number, which matters in a trade where a surprise on the invoice is the whole complaint.

It asks the questions you would ask

Residential, commercial or automotive. Locked out, or a broken key in the cylinder. Year, make and model for a car key, and whether it is a transponder or a proximity fob. Is anyone inside, and is the caller the owner or a tenant. Ansurra collects the fields you define, so you arrive with the right blanks, the right tools and no second trip.

A call, start to finish.

How a call to Granite Ridge Lock & Key — a fictional business — plays out. The receptionist only offers times its calendar shows free and only quotes what the owner's price list says.

Sample call · Granite Ridge Lock & Key
CallerHi, I'm locked out of my house. I just got home from work and my key won't turn at all.
AnsurraI'm sorry, that's a rough end to the day. You've reached Granite Ridge Lock and Key. Can I get the address, and is this the front door or a side door?
CallerForty-one Beacon Street, the front door. It's a deadbolt. The key goes in but it just spins.
AnsurraThanks. A key that spins is something the locksmith will need to see on site. The lockout service call is ninety-five dollars from our price list, and any parts are quoted before the work starts. Is anyone inside, or is anyone else with you?
CallerNo, it's just me out here, and it's freezing.
AnsurraUnderstood. This is an urgent call, so I'm going to bring Dave on the line now and give him your address. Please stay by the door, he'll be with you in a moment.

Ansurra vs. what you use today.

Voicemail, an answering service, a person at the desk: what each still does better, and what it costs.

Compared with voicemail

A lockout caller does not leave a message. They call the next number. Ansurra answers in a human voice, names your shop, collects the address and the lock, and either books it or connects the caller to you. The one thing voicemail does have is a price of zero, and if you already answer every ring yourself, you do not need us.

Compared with an answering service

A human operator reads your script, takes a message and sends it on. They cannot see your calendar, so a rekey for Thursday becomes a callback you make between jobs. Ansurra books into the real calendar and quotes from your list. A person is still better at talking down an angry caller disputing a bill, and some older customers simply prefer one.

Compared with hiring a dispatcher

A dispatcher is the right hire once you run three or four vans. For a one- or two-truck shop, a salary to cover the phone eight hours a day still leaves nights and weekends open, which is when lockouts happen. Ansurra starts at twenty-nine dollars a month and is on the line at three in the morning without overtime.

How it works.

01

Paste your website

Ansurra reads your services, hours and service area and drafts its own knowledge. Add your price list if you want it quoting.

02

Forward your number

One dial code at your carrier — every call, or only the ones you miss. You keep the number your customers know.

03

It answers

From the next ring: it books on your calendar, emails confirmations, transfers emergencies to your cell and sends you every detail.

Locksmiths, answered.

Can it tell the difference between a lockout and a job that can wait?

Yes. You decide which requests count as urgent, and lockouts, broken keys and break-in repairs are the usual list. Those transfer to your cell live. Rekeys, installs, safe work and commercial jobs go on the calendar. If you do not pick up an urgent call, Ansurra takes the address, the lock type and a callback number and emails it to you immediately.

Will it quote a lockout price over the phone?

Only the price you put on your list, and only word for word. A typical list has a service call fee and a lockout range and leaves everything else as quote after inspection. Ansurra follows that exactly. It never makes up a number to close the call, which protects you from the bait-and-switch reputation the trade fights against.

Can it handle car key calls?

It collects what you need to bring the right blank: year, make and model, whether the key is a plain metal key, a transponder or a proximity fob, and whether the caller has a spare. You can set automotive work as urgent or scheduled. It will not promise a fob can be programmed on site; it says the locksmith confirms that when they arrive.

I get robocalls and people asking if I buy gold. Does it deal with those?

Ansurra screens robocalls and spam before they reach you, and you keep a blocklist for numbers you never want to hear from again. Real callers get a real conversation. A repeat customer is recognized by caller ID and greeted by name, so the property manager who calls every month does not have to explain who she is each time.

What does it cost for a one-van shop?

Starter is $29 a month for 60 talk minutes; Growth is $49 for 180 minutes; Pro is $99 for 400 minutes and up to 4 numbers; Scale is $299 for 1,000 minutes and up to 7 numbers. Overage is $0.35 a minute ($0.25 on Scale). Pay yearly and one month is free. The free trial is 20 talk minutes on the real product with no card required, and the first payment carries a 14-day money-back guarantee. No contracts.

Do I have to give up my number?

No. You keep the number on your van and your listings. Your carrier forwards calls to Ansurra with one dial code, either every call or only the ones you miss or decline. Forwarding only on busy and no-answer means you still pick up when you can and Ansurra catches the rest. Turn it off with another code any time.
